No matter what time of year it is, now is a perfect time of year to “spring clean” your property, and let the brightness of spring clean fill your place with new energy.  Whether you’re already a clean freak and your home is clean, or you know your place needs a bit of extra cleaning attention, there are a few simple things you can do to spring clean your home and make it feel fresh.

Dust all surfaces

Dust builds up quickly in a home. To freshen up your space, dust all the little nooks and crannies you forget about when you’re doing a regular clean of your property. One of the easiest ways to do this is with a microfibre cloth or dusting glove. Simply start around the highest points of your home on items such as ceiling fans and light fixtures and work your way down to the furniture, window sills and skirting boards. And don’t forget to lift items like your computer, books or lamps so you can dust underneath them as well.

Clean scuff marks off walls

Cleaning scuff marks off walls as soon as you see them is a great way to keep your property in excellent condition throughout your tenancy. Plus, it increases the likelihood that you’ll get all of your bond back when you move out of the property. If scuff marks have built up around your place from furniture, shoes, kids, or anything else take some time to clean those marks off your walls gently.

To clean scuff marks off your walls, use a soft sponge and clear soap with some warm water to gently clean the mark off the wall. A magic eraser is also a great way to clean scuff marks off walls. Be very careful when you’re cleaning painted surfaces. If you’re unsure about a product, test it in a small, unnoticeable area before you use it widely around your home.

Wash window screens and sills

Spring is also a great time to wash your window screens and window sills. To clean window screens, use a mild soap and damp cloth to wipe dirt off the screens. If you live in a high-traffic area or it has been a long time since you cleaned the window sills, it may take you a couple of rounds of wiping over the window screens before all of the dirt and dust is removed.

Once you’ve cleaned your window screens, wipe down your window sills with a dusting glove or damp cloth to remove dust and dirt that has settled. For any stubborn dust and dirt, you could vacuum the window sill or any tracks for sliding doors in your property.

When you live a busy lifestyle, sometimes the last thing you want to do is spend an entire day spring cleaning your home. If you’re low on time, but still want to spring clean your home, pick an item of this list each week and get it done. This will help you to gradually do the deeper cleaning tasks that make your place feel extra fresh without taking up all of your valuable weekend.
